Recovering..

Most of you who read this probably already know that Tom was in a derby accident last week...I guess I don't know if you can call it an accident since he knew he was going in there to crash into people...
Anyways, we woke up this morning before the sun (which is very rare for us this time of year) I don't think either of us got much sleep last night...I have to admit - I was a wreck - not so much that I didn't trust the surgeon (who, I think it is important to mention, was no older then us) but more-so that I was worried with some of his medicine allergies that he was going to have problems with the anesthesia (not to mention I had a dream that he didn't wake up after surgery)
We got to the Mason City Surgery Center at 6:15 - were called back at 6:30 for prep (which took an hour and fifteen minutes). They came in at 7:44 to take him into surgery and I was sent back in the lobby waiting room.
19 long minutes later (okay so 19 minute surgery is not long, but it felt long to me) my Medipass started vibrating and beeping - I was taken into a little room where I waited for the doctor. He came in and said that the surgery went well and that it'd be approx. a half hour before he would wake up and I could go back and see him. The next words out of his mouth were "I did the best I could"...He said that the x-ray didn't give the break justice and that instead of two or three big pieces there were "a lot.....a lot of little pieces, too many to count" He said he did the best he could trying to reconstruct his nose putting the little pieces together as best he could. After that fun little meeting, I was sent back to the lobby waiting room.
About a half hour later, my Medipass started vibrating and beeping again and I was taken back to see him...He seemed okay - said that he wasn't in any pain. The longer we sat in recovery however, and the more the pain medicine wore off, the more pain he was in. We were home by 11:30 and he is sitting on the couch right now, trying to get some sleep as I tap at the keyboard.. He said the re-break and surgery is more painful right now then when he broke it in the derby..
That's all I have for you now - he's supposed to go back on Monday to "see if it took", Tom said "I don't care if it takes or not, I'll live with a crooked nose, I'm not doing this again."

You know what's funny that night after seeing Tom I was going thru some of our old pictures and I found the ones when he was helping Tim and Matt clean out the building and he's got a black eye there too. That and I had forgotten he was ever that young :) Ronnie's been giving us updates. That why you haven't heard from us, but we're all thinking of you. You know you just need to let us know if you need anything. Molly's still telling people about Uncle Tom getting hurt at the demo. Although he might be replaced after tonight. She's been talking about the transmission going out in the car now. I guess it happened because of some dirt, that's her mechanical analysis anyway. We've got a hair appointment tomorrow so we'll be up in your neighborhood so maybe we'll swing by to see you if you don't feel like making it to the folks (i.e. make sure you're decent).

Do you like the filter that I used on the last picture of Brooke, Dylan & Chelsea?
